Overview
IIT Madras, one of India’s premier institutions of higher learning, adopted the Lanquill platform as part of its academic support services to improve English proficiency among its undergraduate and postgraduate students. During the academic year 2024–25, a cohort of 3,000 students was enrolled into the Lanquill system to undergo structured language training aligned with CEFR levels.
Primary Goal
The primary goal was to strengthen LSRWGV competencies—Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Vocabulary—using Lanquill’s adaptive AI-based learning paths, real-time feedback systems, and multilingual grammar support.
Key Outcomes
- Measured Improvement Across All Domains: Students demonstrated significant improvement across all six skill areas. Average scores increased by 25–30 points, with notable gains in speaking and writing skills, which were previously the most challenging domains.
- Engagement Through Continuous Feedback: Lanquill's real-time feedback and automated writing analysis encouraged students to correct their errors, leading to habit formation and improved confidence.
- 7-Level Certification Framework: Over 85% of students successfully cleared certification levels ranging from CEFR A1 to C2, with many progressing to advanced levels by the end of the term.
