National Institute of Technology Manipur deployed Lanquill's AI English Language Lab across a 206-learner B.Tech cohort. Here is exactly what the platform measured — the wins, and the honest growth area.
NIT Manipur's students had strong technical foundations but no structured, measurable way to build and prove English communication readiness — the skill recruiters screen for first and accreditors increasingly ask about.
The institute needed more than practice hours. It needed evidence: a defensible, CEFR-aligned record of where each learner started, where they finished, and how far the cohort moved — without adding load to already-stretched faculty.
Of 206 learners onboarded, 95% activated and stayed active — logging 2,295 hours across 62,305 individual practice activities. That's roughly 12 hours of self-driven, AI-guided practice per active learner in a single semester, with the platform (not faculty) carrying the feedback load.
High activation is the quiet precondition for everything that follows: you can't measure proficiency gains on a cohort that never showed up. This one did.
Self-Assessment scores for the 161 learners who completed both the baseline and follow-up test. Bars show post-test proficiency; the number on the right is the average gain. We show speaking and vocabulary honestly — flat is flat.
Follow-up CEFR distribution across the 161 re-tested learners. Reported at the per-student overall-grade level.
Certification uptake in this first semester was intentionally small: 6 learners entered the sequential 7-level certification track, and one completed all seven levels. Because the track is gated — you can't reach Level 5 without clearing Levels 1–4 — the higher levels reflect how far committed individuals advanced, not that they're easier.
We treat certification as an emerging signal, not a headline metric, for the 2025–26 cohort. Cohort-wide certification adoption is the stated goal for 2026–27. Presenting it honestly now is how the numbers stay defensible later.
95% of onboarded students stayed active across the semester — no added faculty load.
Measurable improvement strongest in listening, reading and writing, verified against a standard framework.
Speaking is flagged as the priority focus for the next cohort — tracked, not hidden.
Quantified notional practice hours and assessed outcomes that map to NCrF Level-4 under NEP 2020.
